In the fall we will host the 2016 VBC Career days, specially targeted for PhD Students and Postdocs from IMP/IMBA/GMI*.
This year there will be two main events:

Target audience: PhD students (in their 3rd or 4th year) and Postdocs who need support with career planning

Self-awareness is a key characteristic of high performers and plays an important role in realising a successful career. In an increasingly competitive academic job market, it is vital that postdoctoral researchers and PhD students take a proactive approach to their careers so that they can maximize their chances to achieve career success.
This workshop begins with self-analysis and personal effectiveness, including the opportunity for you to examine more closely your role as a researcher. You will undertake self-analysis exercises and use this information to reflect on your own situation and identify opportunities and strengths, including the influence of personality, interests and values on patterns of communication, working style and career choice. We will map this information onto the job market, using real opportunities in the academic and non-academic job sectors to analyse what employers want and how to promote yourself effectively to realise a successful outcome.
