Nov 24 | Career Symposia
These days are specially targeted for PhD Students and Postdocs who are planning their next position*.
22nd & 23rd November 2017, 9-13h
This workshop aims to assist postdoctoral researchers and PhD students with their career planning, whether they are intending a career within or outside of academia. Underpinned by recognised career theory, the programme includes presentations, information and exercises to enable participants to take a proactive approach to their next career transition.
Programme outline:
Day 1 (09.00 – 13.00): Career planning overview; identifying personal strengths, skills and career choice preferences; examination of the employment market and job seeking strategies. Short homework task.
Day 2 (09.00 – 13.00): Review of Day 1 and homework task; effective communication skills including personal profile and networking; writing an effective CV and covering letter; reflection and personal action planning.
This is an excellent opportunity to spend time out of your research to consider your career options in a learning environment that will help you to review your current position and how best to prepare yourself for your future career path.
