Career Development Plan

All PhD Students are encouraged to think about their career development plan (CPD) from day one.

To develop a CDP you should:

  1. Self-reflect on your goals, interests and values, and assess your strengths and weaknesses.
  2. Draw a roadmap on how to achieve your goals, taking into account your characteristics.
  3. Last but not least, discuss it with your supervisor and get feedback, namely you should discuss the expectations of both sides and agree on the strategy.

Remember that the CDP should be a living document that is updated by you, in particular during/after mentoring meetings and/or meetings of Thesis Advisory Committee. If you need help, Inês Crisóstomo is happy to discuss your career plans with you, and help you develop your plan and approach.

To help you think about your goals, skills and competencies we have put together a Initiates file downloadChecklist (based on the expected learning outcomes of the PhD Program).
